IIHF- Ice Hockey World Championship games (2017)

            
On 5 May 2017 three days from now, history will be in the making in Germany and France. It is because of the games that gather teams from all over the world to participate against each other for a trophy. The participating teams are divided into A and B and I guess, you have already selected your team. The games appear to be in gear here in India and in other European countries that are taking part. Germany, France, Slovenia, USA, Sweden, Czech Republic, Belarus, Denmark are some of the countries that are participating.

            The participating teams in the IIHF 2017 qualified on the following basis

  •  After winning a promotion at the 2016 IIHF World Championship in Division 1
  •  Being the Host and that is France and Germany
  • Being in the among the 14 qualifiers at the 2016 world championship games 
Denmark will host the 2018 Ice Hockey World Championship games. Lions are going to roar than never before, starting from 5 May until they will be concluded with the winner. The anthem of the tournament is by the German dance music group called Cascada.
          In Germany, games are to be held in one of the biggest and attractive arenas in the world “Lanxess Arena” with a capacity of 18,000 (Cologne). In France, games will take place at AccorHotels Arena also one of the most beautiful arenas in the world with a capacity of 15,000. Germany and France received the highest 63 votes to be the hosts of the 2017 IIHF games while Denmark and Latvia fell out with only 45 votes.
Canada has the trophy of the 2016 IIHF games and this time, we are going to observe the road to the next champion. Will Canada remain? That is to be witnessed.

           Anyone who would want to attend the games, he or she can book a ticket online and attend the games. Here is what to expect at the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship games




Two countries and that is Germany and France have joined hands in the preparation of the Ice Hockey World Championship 2017. The games will begin in Germany after which will proceed in France. They totaled up to 16 countries and are divided into two groups for the preliminary round. The arrangement is as follows; 1A-4B, 2A-3B, 1B-4A, 2B-3A. The top four graded teams of each group will head to the quarterfinals and will be played crossover. The team that takes the first position of the preliminary round will have to play with the fourth positioned team of another group. In the same way, the team that takes the second position will play the third place team of the other group. Teams that win in this first phase will head for the semifinals. 

           In all the games, a winning team will have 3 points and if it is a tie, 1 point will be awarded for each team. 5 minutes will be added in the case a game is finished with a tie and a losing team will get no point at the end of the game. If a team happens to win in the five added minutes, an additional point (1) will be given to it. If at all there is a tie between the playing team at the end of the regulation time, five minutes shall be added and if any team happens to score before the five minutes erupt, the game will be ended and if the five minutes erupt without any score shoots procedures will be applied.

  • The goal differences
  • The highest goals scored by a particular team
  •  The highest points
  •  And the team that takes the top position in the group.
  • The seeds

      Just like other games, the championship experience is heating up and teams are working hard to give their best in Germany and France. The goalies of each team are raising expectations, but until that final day, no one can judge the teams. There will be wonders, astonishing moments, and talent approval and so on. IIHF NAMES REFEREES, LINESMEN FOR 2017 IIHF ICE HOCKEY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP



          May 2017 will be the busiest month for the hockey lovers as 16 nations are going to grapple with each other for 2017 IIHF ice hockey world championship. On the one side fans are waiting with curiosity for the ice hockey action of 2017 and on the other side, the organizing committees are trying to do their best for the fans and participants.
Recently the IIHF officiating Committee has cut the 32 officials for the world championship including the 16 Referees and 16 Linesmen.
         These 32 officials are selected from the long list of 75 names on the basis of their performances during the ongoing hockey season at international and national competitions so that players could have the best referees and linesmen for the matches.
         So not only the players of ice hockey teams, participating in the championship need to roster their teams but also to the officials as the selection process for the official was quite tough and unbiased so that players and fans could enjoy the healthy competition in the championship matches.
         This team of 32 officials for the ice hockey games includes the mix of veterans and young aspiring officials and this team has 20 officials that have already experience of ice hockey world championship combining the experience of 61 championships.
Remaining 12 officials means 6 referees and six linesmen are selected for the first time for this international event but they have officiated in other IIHF events like IIHF World Junior championship.
          Daniel Piechazek who is the most experienced referee of the event is going to officiate his 9th IIHF ice hockey championship in his home country. He is one of the two German officials with linesman Lukas Kohmuller, who is invited for the first time. The second one is the Swiss referee Tobias who is called for 8th time as before he has called the gold medal games in 2015 and 2016. Along with the Tobias one referee, Roman Gofman and Linesman Gleb Lazarev are selected from the last finals that are from Russia.
        Nations Czech Republic and Finland are leading in the number of officials with four each for this 2017 IIHF ice hockey world championship and overall these best 32 officials are selected from the 14 different countries including the two non- participation nations named Austria and Netherlands.  So fans could enjoy the fair 64 games under the supervision of these 32 officials for 2017 IIHF ice hockey world championship.
